This picture demonstrates why Highway 93 was closed until Tuesday.
The Canadian Rockies have received more snow this year than any other year in the past decade. As beautiful as it looks, when the temperture begins to warm up, these snow packs become unstable and the chances of an avalanche increase dramatically.

I have never done this drive in the winter. It is breathtaking in summer, winter must be an absolute wonder. Nice series this week.

Thanks for the concern Kris, but I was stopped on a paved and clear part of the highway. I haven't gotten to the point of endangering myself for the perfect shot yet...
